Google is hoping to revolutionize virtual meetings by making participants appear as 3D figures on screen. In collaboration with HP, they are developing a display that transforms 2D images into 3D, as reported by Androidnews. This technology, known as Google Beam, uses artificial intelligence to merge images from six different cameras. This creates the illusion that a person is sitting across from you, even though it's just a screen. The technology can track head movements in real time, ensuring a natural and lifelike appearance.
Live translation during video calls
Another feature showcased during Google I/O was live translation during video calls. As an example, the tech company demonstrated a conversation between an English speaker and a Spanish speaker. The technology translates what is being said and speaks it to the other person. Thus, the English person hears everything in English, while the Spanish person speaks in Spanish. The AI voice can mimic tone, patterns, and intonation. According to Google, everything happens in real-time.
Google has rolled out a real-time AI translator. The neural network synchronizes the speaker's voice, intonation, and emotions in real time.
The company stated that with this tool, people can communicate anywhere in the world, as if language barriers never existed. pic.twitter.com/eXeE6zql48
