Office smart farms aid Singapore's 30.30 vision

Delta Singapore, which provides smart living solutions, has a green space hidden in its office building, which has 24 multi-layered planting pots and a 9.8-square-meter vertical farm. High-tech configurations enable automated planting, which can help Singapore, where arable land is limited and manpower and water resources are scarce, realize the 30.30 vision.

Delta Electronics Singapore general manager Deng Bingcheng said they moved into the Kallang Junction building two years ago and set up this farming space on the third floor in January last year.

By reducing the use of water and space, this hydroponic system can produce up to 40 kilograms of high-quality fresh vegetables every 35 days. The nutrient solution developed by the company contains an organic formula, and it is understood that the vegetables can remain fresh for 10 days to two weeks after refrigeration. The hydroponic system used circulates water, which can effectively reduce water consumption by at least 30% compared to traditional farming.

In addition to the water quality and water level sensors, all the technologies of the entire system are developed, designed and produced by the company itself, including LED three-color lighting, smart water and electricity meters, DC fans to ensure air circulation in the planting space, water supply and drainage systems, planting pots, nutrient solution, and VTScada monitoring system.
