The Colorado Chamber of Commerce named the Vertical Hydroponic Farm manufactured by FarmBox Foods the Coolest Thing Made in Colorado for 2025. The award-winning farm is built inside an upcycled shipping container and can be shipped anywhere it is needed.
The container is solar-enabled and outfitted with all the plumbing and climate-controlled technology needed to grow food anywhere in the world, year-round. The container farms have successfully grown 80 different types of plants, including kale, herbs, cherry tomatoes and peppers.
"These are sent throughout the world to give people the ability to farm in places they traditionally haven't been able to farm," said Chris Michlewicz with FarmBox Foods.
"You don't have to worry about a drought taking out your crops. You don't have to worry about hail or pests," Michlewicz said.
