Vietnam: Opening ceremony held for completed strawberry facility

Isu Chemical, a subsidiary of Isu Group, held a ceremony for the completion of a strawberry vertical farm in Vietnam and began building a local production model for Korean strawberries targeting the Southeast Asian market.

Lee Soo Chemical announced on the 4th that Ju Young-ISU Future Grow, a joint venture jointly established with local partner Ju Young Construction in Vietnam, held a ceremony to complete a vertical farm. This facility is an enclosed indoor farm that can be produced throughout the year, equipped with LED artificial light, hydroponic cultivation, and automatic temperature and humidity control system.

The farm size is about 220㎡, and it aims to produce more than 10 tons per year through a mobile plantation system. An eco-friendly management system without the use of chemical plant protectants was introduced, and the initial harvest secured marketability in terms of average weight and sugar content. The company plans to complete commercialization and distribution tests by the end of the year and deliver them to local premium food stores and hotels.

Vietnam's import of fresh strawberries from Korea is about 650 tons (about 12 billion won) as of 2023, the fourth largest after Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand. ISU Chemical plans to simultaneously verify import substitution and supply chain efficiency through local production.
