US (MO): Container farm inaugurated at Urban League of St. Louis

A multi-million dollar greenhouse is now open at the Urban League Headquarters on Kingshighway, FirstAlert4 reports.

"We are the first and only urban league in America to have to have its own greenhouse and hydroponic farming units at its headquarters," Michael P. McMillan, Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis president & CEO, said to Fox News

Lifelong farmer Missouri Gov. Mike Parson was in town Tuesday to celebrate the state-funded facility. The location is in the middle of a food desert. The greenhouse will use technology to grow fresh food throughout acres of indoor sheds.

Among the cutting-edge greenhouse and Hydroponic Units, 100 garden towers have been installed. Vested Urban Farms and Fresh Harvest 365 will grow fresh fruit and vegetables at the urban farm.
