Today saw the launch of Asia Fruit Logistica ON via a webinar. The event was supposed to take place in Singapore in September but due to the restrictions of COVID 19 the event will now take place 18-20 November and for the first time will be a digital event.
The purpose of today’s launch was to introduce (potential) visitors and exhibitors to the new format, explain what was on offer and how it would work.
The webinar was introduced by Chris White from FruitNet Media who will run events alongside the tradeshow.
Will Wollbold Global Brand Manager for Fruit Logistica said initially the team had worked extensively to make a physical event in Singapore, but when it became apparent that that would not be possible they put everything into making the event digital.
“Asia Fruit Logistica ON will be a digital event with a difference. The fresh produce trade has not stopped, indeed it has gotten busier, especially in Asia.”
Asia Fruit Logistica ON will connect fresh produce buyers with the suppliers. The organisation has partnered with an Asian software company to create a platform where they can meet, but it goes further than facilitating meetings, it uses algorithms to match buyers and sellers. The platform also helps build an optimum meeting schedule.
“The Asian market is growing very fast, we have to provide a tool to help buyers and suppliers meet each other just as we do in a physical setting,“ explained Will.
When asked about 2021 Will was hopeful of a physical show, not least that that would mean that the COVID is done with but because people need to meet face to face. He asked for feedback on this event and mentioned the possibility of a mix between physical and digital events in the future.
There are various options for both exhibitors and attendees to choose from which can all be found on the Asia Fruit Logistica website https://www.asiafruitlogistica.com/
