Growing Media Europe reinforces technical expertise

Dr. Nele Ameloot recently joined the Growing Media Europe (GME) team as a technical expert, highly experienced in marketing, Research & Development and project management. As an external consultant, she will support GME on a wide range of topics, including the implementation of the Fertilising Product Proposal, and the finalisation of GME´s project on life cycle assessment (LCA).

Previously working for one of GME´s member companies, Dr. Nele Ameloot has a deep knowledge of the growing media sector and is strongly familiar with the functioning of the association. She has played a vital role in implementing GME´s public affairs strategy towards the European Institutions as well as several internal projects. Chairing several Working Groups of GME, Nele Ameloot has been dealing with legislative as well as highly technical details of different policy topics since the sector organisation was founded in 2016. In addition, she has been leading GME´s internal projects on Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainability that mark important milestones in the development of the association.

Nele Ameloot holds a Ph.D in Bio-science Engineering from the University of Ghent, where she recently took up a post to manage the development centre in biomolecules. She is also lecturing soil science, urban farming techniques and the prevention of food waste.

Dr. Nele Ameloot: “Along the years, growing media and potting soil have become a passion for me. Many challenges are awaiting the growing media sector in the future, and GME will play a key role in it. Therefore, it thrills me to further collaborate with GME.”
