CAN: Funding available for agricultural innovation

As part of the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP), a funding stream has been launched to promote collaboration between agricultural and value-chain partners. Creating partnerships accelerates the creation and adoption of innovation for our industry.

Ontario’s government is helping to grow the province’s agri-food and agri-products sectors by launching the Place to Grow: Agri-food Innovation Initiative – a program which will help drive innovation, reduce red tape, and address industry priorities. The “Funding for Sectors” stream and will support agriculture and food value-chain partners in addressing emerging sector challenges and opportunities to create sector wide benefits.

This cost-share intake opened Nov 4th and will remain open until November 26, 2020. Funding is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Projects under “Place to Grow” should fall into one of the 3 main categories below. For the greenhouse ornamental industry, plant health projects (under “Protection & Assurance”), as well as demonstrations of new technology, accessing markets and addressing labour supply (all under “Economic Development”), will be the most relevant.
