US (OH): Central State hosts aquaponics field day with tilapia harvest

Around 400 pounds of tilapia were ready to be harvested at the Central State University Extension (CSUE) Aquaponics Demonstration Facility. The CSU Aquaponic Field Day was held Saturday with participants learning about operating the system---and even taking home some of the nearly 200 two-pound tilapia raised in the demonstration facility

At the end of the field day's presentations with CSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resource Educator Marc Amante, participants were able to bring home a fresh fish weighing around two pounds.

Participants also viewed progress on different demonstration systems being built in the same greenhouse and learned more about the self sustaining system.
