"Spirulina is a kind of microalgae growing in alkaline lakes. It contains many nutrients that people can take as a dietary supplement. In recent years, the pursuit of natural and health grows day by day, which surged the demand for the product’s nutritive value. Consumers recognize spirulina for its unique nutritive value more and more," says Jenkin Chan, with Zhejiang Binmei Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
According to Jenkin, BINMEI is the first Chinese company to study phycocyanin and spirulina. Next to researching the products, the company also cultivates its own Spirulina and phycocyanin.
Jenkin continues, "Spirulina has been cultivated worldwide for its commercial value. Commercial spirulina producers tried to cultivate it in the rural area and thus reduce the cost of production and environmental pollutions. Due to the lack of education and technical support in the rural area, some farmers are reluctant to share information and technology, which causes serious deterioration of algae. Next to that, deterioration will further damage the algae and lower profits."
"To remedy this issue, BINMEI has been committed to social responsibility and sustainable development, by investing in the cultivation of the algae. Through technical screening and algae analysis, BINMEI has cultivated high-quality spirulina strains," Jenkin says. At the same time, BINMEI also researched the culture medium of spirulina culture, which helps spirulina farms to conduct a fertilizer analysis that provides appropriate nutrition formula and suggestions.
"To cultivate high-quality spirulina, the breeding base of BINMEI is settled in the Trona lake area- the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos in China," Jenkin states. The inner Mongolian city of Ordos lies within the Ordos Plateau of the Yellow River. In these areas, the sunshine duration is up to 3076.4/h, with abundant solar energy resources and a superior climate, providing unique growing conditions.
"The spirulina quality has significantly improved because of these great breeding conditions," says Jenkins. The breeding base adopts an advanced closed runway spirulina cultivation type. The Ordos environment provides an advanced growth for the DunDing spirulina. This is a unique type of spirulina containing HDA (hexamethylenediamine). BINMEI's spirulina's protein content is between 65% to 72%, which is above the average, according to Jenkins. "The richness of proteins makes BINMEI's spirulina more nutritional than any other spirulina."
"Furthermore, the spirulina cultivation has turned desert into an available land resource. By working closely with the spirulina base in Inner Mongolia, BINMEI continuously improves its spirulina yield and quality." The company's products have passed HALAL KOSHER certification and some of them are patented. BINMEI's production line consists of spirulina and spirulina powder.
