Fully coated water tank in disguise

We're not calling anybody ugly yet water tanks might not be the most beautiful devices ever installed in horticulture. Well, think again. A grower in Portugal ordered a water tank in pinewood green. "The green colour of the metal panels is caused by a powder coating, preventing against corrosion in demanding environments," says Arjen van Dijk with NPI (Nederlandse Plastic Industrie), supplier of the water tank. "We advise to apply this additional coating at least to the bottom rings of the tank (available per ring). This client however has ordered a fully coated tank to let it blend in the landscape."

The fully coated water tank was installed by the NPI dealer KEAG in the south of Portugal recently. The tank of 10,06 x 3,05 m provides irrigation water for the surrounding 5 hectares of vineyard.

"This client opted for this relatively large water tank in proportion to the size of the area since the boreholes aren’t so strong. Therefore continuous pumping is needed to have an adequate water supply for the vines, especially in dry periods."
