In collaboration with Urban Crop Solutions, the company is growing a variety of greens inside the container farm. The container farm is a product of the Belgium-based company, enabling to grow a wide variety of greens in a CEA space. The pilot takes place at IKEA’s Malmö store in Sweden.

Through the pilot, IKEA would like to introduce its clients to sustainable growing and supply the greens to its restaurant. This summer, the company will use the freshly grown greens for salads that are served in its restaurant.
“This will not only result in delicious, fresh, locally grown greens that IKEA visitors can enjoy,” notes Aniol Salvador Soy, Project Leader at IKEA, Ingka Group Sustainability. “More importantly, it will also contribute to our ambition to become people and planet positive by 2030.” IKEA aims to achieve this by using fewer natural resources compared to conventional growing methods.
