"Pesto made for chefs looking for a fast and fresh alternative"

Bresc comes with the Premium basil pesto. "Ideal for chefs looking for a quick and fresh alternative," says Bresc. Available from now on from the catering wholesalers.

"The Premium basil pesto is supplied in 450 gram pots, a conscious choice so that the pesto stays fresh for as long as possible. Maintaining the fresh aromas was the basis in the development of the pesto. Bresc has been a specialist in chilled fresh for many years. garlic and herb products, aimed at the European Food Service market. Bresc's development of each product is based on pure flavors, optimum ease of use and consistent quality," Bresc explains.

"A chef needs a good alternative to a fresh product"
Gijs Vermeulen, culinary product developer at Bresc, has worked for years as a chef and knows better than anyone that there is a great need for an alternative to fresh pesto. “We have been looking for a pesto with a huge fresh experience for years. It was a difficult task to create a continuous flow between quality, price and shelf life. Basil has a short shelf life and quickly loses its fresh aromas. And that is exactly what a chef needs. Ultimately, we succeeded in growing fresh basil with consistent quality all year-round with the help of growing in a vertical nursery. ”

"Besides the fact that the pesto is fresh, the basil is also grown sustainably"
Growing in a vertical farm is a form of agriculture that uses stacked cultivation layers. Besides the fact that the pesto is fresh, the basil is also grown sustainably. Instead of the basil being grown in greenhouses that occupy spacious fields, the greenhouses are stacked like a high tower. This reduces the ecological footprint and the basil does not have to be imported from different countries all year-round. Solar energy is used and because cultivation takes place in the Netherlands, transport movements are limited. The basil plant is processed immediately after harvesting, which preserves the fresh aromas.

With the Premium basil pesto a new line has been created for Bresc; the search for the replacement of fresh products, whereby the taste of the products is even better than with the fresh variant, has been started. Of course with high-quality ingredients as a basis.
