NL: Research on multi-layer cultivation in grass sod production

Under the 'Zeeland in Stroomversnelling' scheme, the province of Zeeland, the Netherlands, is granting a 38,500 euro subsidy to the company Organicz for a project aimed at the sustainable production of grass sods. In this project, Organicz is cooperating with Johan Boot grass sod nursery, DLF Hemplax, Logiqs, and Green Chemistry Campus.

The parties want to investigate the extent to which the latest knowledge and technology in the field of multilayer cultivation in a conditioned environment for low herbaceous food crops is also applicable to the cultivation of grass.

On the basis of the results, clarity will be created as to whether it is technically and economically feasible to produce grass sustainably in an enclosed conditioned environment. The agricultural land that becomes available as a result can then be used for the cultivation of other crops
