VitalFluid (NL) presents first results of natural nitrogen trials

"Lightning in a box"

VitalFluid presents the first results of the first lettuce grown with Vitalfluid Natural Nitrogen. The lettuce is growing in a vertical farm of the Botany in Venlo at the Brightbox. In this hydroponics system, the lettuce is growing on just water with fertilizers.

"We compare two cells, the reference cell is set up with common fertilizers including synthetic liquid nitrogen, and the second cell is fed with the natural nitrogen of VitalFluid. Every week we put a new sequence of lettuce down to see how it grows and to measure the results of the weight of leaves, the weight of roots, size, etc. We even had the chance to taste the first harvested crops which were very crispy and flavourful," the company says.

The test is to prove the capability of the Freya unit of VitalFluid to produce natural nitrogen which can be used as a good nutrient for growing crops.
