Hyper-local vegetables grow in Stockholm's Skrapan gallery

The Skrapan mall and meeting place in Stockholm is now making further efforts to make Södermalm more sustainable. Soon, local grower Cubegreens will open its doors in Skrapan's courtyard.

With its locally produced vegetables and herbs, Cubegreen's hydroponic growing has quickly become a favourite. This autumn, it's time for the first harvest.

The startup, which specializes in urban growing, was founded by Carl and Lill Grebling in 2018. In custom-built shipping containers, Cubegreens grows vegetables at altitudes where neither soil nor long transportation is needed.

"It all started with a passion for growing and food. Through Cubegreens, our interests and our vision to give more people access to locally grown vegetables come together. Inspired by Nordic as well as international cuisine, we are passionate about discovering new flavours through modern growing methods", say Carl and Lill Grebling.

In addition to being a supplier to restaurants and shops, Cubegreens also allows private individuals to subscribe to the harvest. Every week, the season's crops are delivered directly to your door by bike or on foot. Skrapan will be the company's second establishment in the Stockholm area, the first cultivation being in Sickla.

"It feels great to finally welcome Cubegreens to Skrapan. We've been working for a while to get this collaboration off the ground. Lill and Carl's commitment to sustainable cultivation and food culture, but also to Skrapan as a place, is incredibly inspiring", says Linda Westersten, Business Developer Trade Stockholm at Vasakronan.
