Korea: Catfish and cherry tomatoes prove successful match

The combination of catfish farming with the cultivation of cherry tomatoes using eco-friendly technology has resulted in a boost to harvest yields.

The National Fisheries Research and Development Institute raised catfish and cultivated cherry tomatoes at the same time using a biofloc technology-based aquaponics system.

Biofloc technology refers to a process that thoroughly decomposes and purifies feed residues and excretions generated by microorganisms and microalgae within the farming aquarium, thereby making it unnecessary to change the water.
