Hands-on education and career readiness: a container farm as a classroom

Auburn University’s student-run vertical farms are central to the hands-on education that the school’s students receive. Pairing classroom lessons with time on the farm provide students with unique career readiness for a variety of fields; this hands-on education is not just useful for students who want to be traditional farmers. Horticulture therapy, economics, sustainability, teaching, plant science, and agriculture technology are just a few of the fields students pursue.
