Bördegarten relies on LED lighting for its herb cultivation

Herbs reach out for red/blue lights

New LED lights were recently installed in the herb section of the Bördegarten greenhouse in Osterweddingen. The light spectrum is precisely matched to the herb plants (80% red and 20% blue) and thus significantly increases growth. "So that we can also supply herbs in winter, the LED light is switched on as needed for about 15 - 18 hours a day," they report.

The new LED lights also have lower power consumption compared to a high-pressure sodium light. "As a result, we can save almost 40% on electricity costs," they conclude.
