'Vertical farming – what’s growing?’ is the topic of a free webinar hosted by agri-tech innovation center, Crop Health and Protection (CHAP).
The online event, which is taking place on April 28, aims to explore developments within vertical farming and controlled environment agriculture, to discuss the latest trends and potential opportunities.
This includes novel crops for pharmaceutical purposes and alternative protein production, innovative agri-tech solutions of the future, and where the industry is heading from a retail perspective.
Among the speakers will be CHAP’s Dr Harry Langford and entrepreneur Dr. Beenish Siddique from AEH Hydrogel. Attendees will also hear about work taking place at CHAP’s Vertical Farming Development Centre at Stockbridge Technology Centre. The event will conclude with an interactive live Q&A.
Strategic Marketing Manager, Janine Heath, said: “Having recently exhibited at New Scientist Live in Birmingham with our vertical farm demonstrator unit, we found that interest in the sector was huge, especially from the general public.
“Often conversations turned to the economics of vertical farming, and how we can improve the financial viability of such systems whilst addressing sustainability issues.
“This webinar aims to address such questions by demonstrating how applied agri-tech solutions and proactively seeking alternative applications can help to drive the industry forward in a positive manner.
“We are delighted to be joined by guest speakers such as Dr Siddique, who’s innovative growing substrates are transforming the sustainability credentials of vertical farming.”
