Esasem introduces new mini plum variety Solbello

Plum tomatoes are one of the leading segment within the table tomato international market, as demand is among the highest when it comes to greenhouse products. Seed company Esasem keeps focusing on genetics for this type of product.

In fact, the consumer demand for high-quality fresh tomatoes, where flavor and shelf-life are characteristics sought after along the entire chain is met with a supply that is increasingly focused on the needs of final clients.

Esasem's new hybrid plum tomatoes Solbello reflect Italy's culinary and farming tradition without compromising on shelf-life or appearance.

This mini plum tomato variety is recommended for spring and summer transplant and has a great setting capacity in the Sicilian high temperatures. Plants have short internodes and a good leaf coverage, plus they generate long compact bunches.

The variety meets production needs in a global context characterized by climate change that sees a progressive increase in the average temperatures. During the summer of 2021, for example, this phenomenon led to a persistent heat wave in Sicily. It is precisely the capability of adapting to stressful conditions that means Solbello can make the difference. And there is more, as the variety boasts good yields, shelf-life and flavor too.

A long shelf life means Solbello tomatoes are suitable for both crates and trays and that they can withstand the complex logistics to reach the destination markets. Without mentioning the time on the shelves.

Solbello also boasts a complete resistance package, including that to TYLCV. Esasem has managed to prove how the variety is able to guarantee qualitative and quantitative continuity even in the presence of the main viruses.
