Expansion of nurturGROW offering with new vertical farm range

Light Science Technologies has expanded its nurturGROW lighting product portfolio with the launch of its ‘slimline’ Vertical Farm range, featuring its sustainable design.

Specifically for use in a closed, climate-controlled growing facility such as a vertical/city farm, container, or research center, the Vertical Farm range can be used in a variety of multi-layer growth applications. Providing optimal growing space, the range is ideal for the cultivation of but not limited to leafy greens, strawberries, micro-greens, herbs, violas, and other small flowers.

nurturGROW is designed to maximize space within a vertical farm environment thanks to its lower profile and bespoke length while delivering an efficacy of up to 2.8 umol which aids in reductions in energy requirement and lowers operating costs without compromising performance. It has also been designed to deliver the best possible uniformity to ensure even growth across growing trays. At the same time, its IP67 rating assures more protection against the harmful effects of dirt and moisture. In addition, by connecting eight luminaires per driver, growers can operate light intensity remotely and connect directly to their control system.

Delivering up to nine independent light spectrums, growers can choose the right crop recipe, including UVC, to give the flexibility of a tailored option to create the perfect light spectrum for crops through the complete crop growth cycle.

Simon Deacon, CEO, and founder of Light Science Technologies, said: “At a time of rocketing energy prices, indoor farmers are under increasing pressure to find more energy efficient ways of growing their crops to save costs long-term. nurturGROW is a solution that is backed by a 25-year product lifecycle, ensuring growers maximize the use of every element over a longer lifespan to generate maximum yields and save them a third on future costs.

“We have created a sustainable, future-proof design so that 90% of the product is recyclable and 85% is reusable, allowing the simple upgrade of components, cost effectively and with no downtime, making nurturGROW easy to maintain. It also means that growers can benefit from new technology and more efficient LEDs, which can be added as they are developed, instead of having to purchase new lighting from scratch, which is further outlay. What indoor farmers are also seeking is durability and reliability while optimizing crop performance, which is exactly what nurturGROW offers. There is also the sustainability element; this doesn’t just apply to indoor farming methods but must cover the products too, which is why nurturGROW drastically cuts down on landfill waste and reduces carbon footprint by minimizing the number of materials used.

“Our new Vertical Farm range enables more growers in the market to reap the advantages of nurturGROW, whether on a vertical or city farm or in a research center where space may be more limited. In short, it helps them grow more with less.”
