New VertiFarm show invites retailers to Retail Day

Visitors to VertiFarm, the new international trade show covering innovative, sustainable cultivation and breeding methods of the future, can expect a comprehensive international showcase and a wide-ranging supporting program: At the Retail Day on 28 September 2022, between 11:00 and 14:30 hrs, retailers will be offered a host of usable, practical information on innovations and trends, the state of the market, business models, financing options and consumer expectations.

VertiFarm 2022 will showcase a wide variety of solutions, product innovations, and systems for sustainably and locally produced food. In view of vulnerable supply chains and rising energy prices, this is set to become increasingly important, especially for food retailers. What are the current obstacles? What potential do the various models offer? What overall environment needs to be created? The Retail Day will give retailers answers to these questions – backed up by real-life examples – from numerous high-caliber speakers.

Using sustainability as an opportunity
Jelena Nikolic, Project Manager for the German Retail Association's Climate Protection Campaign and co-organizer of Retail Day 2022, explains: "Climate and resource protection, energy efficiency, and sustainability are priority issues that retailers are facing. We will be using the Retail Day at the new VertiFarm trade show to give retailers an information event where they can find out about this new sector of the economy and learn about the economic benefits to their businesses."

Markus Kaluza, Head of Public Relations & Project Management at the NRW-WestphaliaMünsterland Retail Association and also the organizer of the Retail Day, takes a similar view: "Generation and consumption of energy is an important issue for the retail sector. Our retail association is supporting member businesses as they move into a climate-friendly future. Growing fresh food in close proximity to densely populated urban areas is one-way retailers can make a sustainable and economic contribution to climate protection and win the hearts and minds of customers in the bargain. At the new show, retailers will be able to experience all aspects of the future potential offered by vertical farming."
