NZ: Visit to Greengrower

"Today, the Te Waka team were lucky enough to visit the Greengrower vertical farm, New Zealand's first large-scale vertical farm for lettuce and leafy greens," writes the Te Waka: Waikato's Regional Economic Development Agency on their LinkedIn page.

The vertical farm's 6200m2 facility is based at Waikato Innovation Park Limited and uses about 1% of the water a conventional outdoor farm would use, optimizing the plants' growth through its unique process.

Greengrower is a recipient of Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) SFF Futures projects: horticulture funding to develop vertical farming facilities in a controlled environment.

It was great to get out and see the exciting, innovative activity happening in our region.
