David Lopez Restrepo joins HYVE as Business Operations Manager

HYVE Indoor Farming Systems, a solutions-based, technology manufacturer of mid-sized and larger-scale Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) systems today announced David Lopez Restrepo has joined the company as Business Operations Manager. Lopez Restrepo comes to HYVE from Babylon Micro-Farms where he served as Head of Farm Operations. In this role, he managed the installation and agricultural operations of a nationwide distributed fleet of hydroponic micro-farms. He also oversaw the Horticulture department and acted as Head Grower.

Lopez Restrepo joins the HYVE team after a recent strategic partnership announcement between HYVE and Raleigh, North Carolina-based AGEYE Technologies. HYVE systems have traditionally emphasized a robust hardware design and scalable system infrastructure. The AGEYE partnership has brought enhanced and sophisticated artificial intelligence capability that monitors every plant within a system for more predictable harvest outcomes. Together, this provides a very scalable, turnkey solution for indoor farmers.

According to Ron Acorn, President of HYVE: “The addition of David to our team as Business Operations Manager further enhances our core management capability. He will be responsible for system software integration and development working closely with AGEYE, system installation at our customer sites, and he will also contribute to the strategic direction for the HYVE brand. His combination of technical ability and on-hands management approach will help us reach a new level of expertise as it relates to our use of artificial intelligence software and our planned overall system enhancements.”

Lopez Restrepo has extensive experience in hydroponics and vertical farming including a proven ability to help scale up operations in an ag-tech product. His skills include harnessing software tools, sensor readings and horticultural knowledge to address and resolve customer and plant growth issues. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agroecology from West Virginia University with minors in Pest Management, Horticulture, and Soil Science.

HYVE is a business unit of DASCOM Americas which serves the Americas markets and is owned in whole by DASCOM Holdings, a Hong Kong-based company with more than 30 years of experience in providing technology solutions. The company does business in more than eighty countries around the globe and offers diverse solutions for customers in a broad range of markets.
