Australia: New 600m2 farm in Adelaide to set off five tonnes of produce yearly

Eden Towers has established Adelaide’s first environment-controlled vertical farm in Wingfield, only 15mins from the CBD. The facility is currently being used to run market trials, R&D, technology assessments and supply into the wholesale market.

Utilizing new technology from Eden Towers, the farm has the capacity to deliver up to 5 tonnes of produce per year and operates with ultra-low energy and water requirements. Eden Towers has secured long-term offtake agreements for the Adelaide farm and is currently planning to develop it into its next commercial-scale site.

Establishment of Adelaide site, followed by industrial-scale farm
“Detailed engineering is already underway for the establishment of a large-scale farm in Pooraka. The commercial farm will be located even closer to the offtake market and require only a footprint of 600m2 to supply up to 200 tonnes of produce into the Adelaide market,” said Christian Prokscha, Co-Founder of Eden Towers.

The achievement of these milestones follows from Eden Towers’ senior appointment of Santiago Insaurralde as its Adelaide lead. An experienced agricultural engineer with many years of agriculture and agri-tech experience, Santiago has been tasked with fast-tracking Eden Towers’ growth into the east coast markets.

“The Adelaide facility will target carbon neutrality by running on renewable energy and recycling all inputs. Renewable 2 energy comes partially from solar panels installed on the premises and will be supplemented by Oxamii, an Adelaide company that provides clean energy. All other inputs are carefully managed and measured to achieve carbon neutrality. The farm generates more than 300kg of produce per square meter of land,” Santiago added.

Expansion across Australia and Asia on track
With plans to expand operations to each major city in Australia and into Asia, Eden Towers combines operational knowledge, innovation in packaging and technology.

Eden Towers is presently conducting a crowdfunding investment round on Swarmer to provide access for retail investors into a growing space and to be part of a first mover in Australia. This is combined with Eden Towers’ funding arrangement in place to execute industrial-scale commercial farms in Australia.
