Ramón Melón joins IUNU as Head Grower

Ramón Melón has joined IUNU as Head Grower, where he’ll focus on helping growers optimize profitability daily.

Ramón has worked in the greenhouse industry for over 25 years, specializing in the commissioning, start-up, and operation of automated facilities worldwide. He is a world-renowned expert on data-driven crop management and has worked across lettuce, tomato, strawberry, pepper, and ornamental production.

“Ramón has pushed for profit-driven production at every facility he’s ever worked at. At IUNU, he will be working with our customers to bring this same philosophy to their operations. Using IUNU’s technology, Ramón will be focused on helping growers centralize the management of distributed facilities and optimize for profitability from Day 1,” said Adam Greenberg, CEO of IUNU.

Ramón is excited to bring his data-driven growing experience to IUNU, adding, “I’m excited to be able to monitor the crop mathematically and implement parameterized control of the production process at customer facilities. With LUNA AI and LUNA CMP, we can drive toward optimizing profits daily by understanding both actual plant performance quantitatively and financial performance. This is moving the industry forward.”

Recognized as one of the top growers in the industry, Ramón joins IUNU most recently from AppHarvest, where he was the Head Grower and VP of the Leafy Greens Department. Prior, he was the Head Grower at Whole Leaf in Canada, Director of Operations at Urban Farmers, and Grower at Kellermann, and has consulted on projects around the world for leading organizations operating large-scale facilities in the areas of climate management, crop management, IPM, plant physiology, plant nutrition, automation and technology, water chemistry, data management, and grower training.

Ramón will join the IUNU team at GreenTech Amsterdam next week. You can meet with the team and learn more about profit-driven growing at their booth 1.341
