Robot developer Honest AgTech declared bankrupt, relaunch being investigated

Dutch robot developer Honest AgTech B.V. has been declared bankrupt. On June 27, the Noord-Holland District Court declared bankruptcy on the Delft-based company. The robot developer, known for a highly autonomous driving horticultural robot, filed for bankruptcy itself. There was a liquidity shortage. A relaunch is currently being investigated.

When asked, curator Claus from Heemstede says he is hopeful of a relaunch. He speaks of 'beautiful technology' that really 'complements the market.'

The kick-start of the company was supported by Viscon as pre-seed investors. Honest employs twenty people. It is important to keep those people with 'very specific qualities,' says the receiver of Haut Legal & Tax. He expects to be able to give a definite answer on this in mid-July. There is 'sufficient time' to restart the technology. In the coming weeks, however, it should be clear what will happen to the people working at Honest.

Going all-in with sensors
Honest Agtech was registered with the Chamber of Commerce in April 2020. Since last autumn, news has come out regularly. This spring, the robot, which includes an upper frame for UV-C treatment of crops, was on real display for the first time at Fruit Logistica in Berlin.

In equipping the robot with sensors, Honest has gone all-in. The robot on display in Berlin is equipped with 3D cameras, 2- and 3D Lidar sensors, and ultrasonic sensors. The robot maker's starting point is that the robot must be as safe as possible, anticipating European regulations to come for autonomous driving. Besides all the sensors, software is also very important for this.

The bankruptcy, pronounced on June 27, is registered under reference: 15.nho.23.135.F.1300.1.23. Mr. A.M.H.J.L. Claus was appointed as trustee.

At Honest AgTech, editors could not get hold of anyone on Thursday morning.
