US (FL): Bay area entrepreneur’s growing cabinet uses AI to grow produce

Garyn Angel, the Port Richey native who founded the now international company Magical Butter, has created the Magical Grow Cabinet, which uses AI technology to grow fruits, vegetables, and even cannabis where it’s legal.

Similar in size to a refrigerator, the device monitors plants grown inside of it using sensors and a camera, allowing for the automatic adjustment of things like temperature, water, and nutrients.

“Using our tech, you can adjust the grow recipe and make these sweeter or more acidic. You can change the thickness of the skin to make it thicker or thinner, and these completely change the flavor profile,” said Angel, as he showed ripe tomatoes grown in one of the cabinets.

Angel said he had cannabis in mind with this latest venture. The AI technology helps ensure consistency with each plant, an important factor when it comes to medicinal use.
