EP Motion on ensuring food security in the EU

Grodan welcomes the recent initiatives and recognition given to CEA, urban agriculture, and the call to support an autonomous and sustainable substrate industry in the European Union. Grodan believes that these steps reflect a growing understanding of the importance of innovative agricultural practices and their potential for positive environmental and socio-economic impact.

In response to the European Parliament's efforts, Grodan urges the European Commission to pursue the efforts of promoting and supporting the advancement of CEA within the EU. This includes allocating research and development (R&D) funding, integrating CEA into the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and developing a comprehensive assessment method for sustainability based on impacts.

CEA represents a significant contribution to achieving sustainable agriculture in the EU. By utilizing advanced technologies and precisely controlled environments, CEA offers a more environmentally friendly approach that minimizes resource consumption and reduces the use of harmful chemicals. Moreover, it presents an opportunity to empower social and economic inclusion by creating local job opportunities, promoting community engagement, and attracting younger generations to the agricultural sector.

Grodan recognizes the potential of CEA to address key challenges in the agricultural sector, such as climate change, resource scarcity, and food security. With its ability to produce high-quality crops year-round, regardless of external conditions, CEA offers a reliable and resilient solution that complements traditional farming methods.

By endorsing and supporting CEA, the European Union can pave the way for a sustainable agricultural future. The client applauds the European Parliament for taking steps in the right direction and encourages the European Commission to join forces in advancing CEA through policy initiatives, financial support, and collaborative partnerships.

Grodan remains committed to promoting sustainable agriculture practices and looks forward to engaging in dialogue with stakeholders, policymakers, and industry leaders to further drive the adoption and development of CEA in the European Union.
