CAN (NL): $400k CAD funding for container farms in Bonavista

A local non-profit and a community investment group have come together to invest $400,000 into hydroponic farming in Bonavista.

The SaltWater Community Association (SWCA) and the Northpine Foundation are funding work by the Canadian Hydroponic Association and the St. John’s 's-based hydroponic grow garden company SucSeed to grow fresh produce in food-insecure communities on the Bonavista Peninsula and creating job opportunities for those with intellectual disabilities.

Funding will be used to create an indoor hydroponic farm, Change4Life, in retrofitted shipping containers at the College of the North Atlantic in Bonavista, operated by trained employed persons with intellectual disabilities.
