Vertical farm seeks large-scale connection with Amsterdam

Growy cultivates vegetables on multiple layers in vertical farms in various cities, including Amsterdam. "We want to extract energy, water, and nutrients from city waste. We've partially succeeded, but hope to do this on a large scale within a year or two," founder Ard van de Kreeke shared with De Gezonde Stad, a foundation based in that Dutch city.

Growy has a team of 100 people and strives to build vertical farms globally, five per year. Currently, it has farms in Amsterdam, Kuwait, and Singapore. This fall, the company announced it would build a new vertical farm at an industrial site in Amsterdam.
