'From the plant to the plate'

In the latest episode of Business Matters, presented by Valley First, a First West Credit Union division, host Rob Cupello sits down with Ilona Morrison from Vertical Greens Kelowna. Vertical Greens specializes in helping people grow their food all year round.

Morrison has been in Kelowna for about 17 years. She came to Canada after fleeing Hungary, and after a while, she noticed all the options available in the country compared to where she was born and raised—where you ate only what you could grow.

"We knew what was on it, how it was grown, where the seeds came from. It was healthy. It was from the plant right to our plate," she says. "Coming to Canada made me realize that we have access to all this food, but where is it coming from? What is it being sprayed with? How long did it travel after they picked it?" Morrison goes into how this led her to start Vertical Greens eight years ago.

Morrison and Cupello also discuss how aeroponic towers differ from traditional gardening, what kinds of things you can grow and more. Listen to the full episode to learn more about Vertical Greens Kelowna and vertical aeroponics.
