GenAI future is promising:

"Dutch technology can be better integrated with China's horticulture industry"

"The Netherlands has advanced technology and rich experience in the field of greenhouse horticulture, while China has a broad market. If Dutch companies collaborate with Chinese enterprises to adapt Dutch greenhouse technology to suit local environmental conditions, the competitive advantages will be further improved," said Mr. Alpha, founder of Zhejiang Zhonggu Alpha Agricultural Science and Technology Co. "We are also in talks with many Dutch companies to discuss how we can cooperate better to maximize advantages and empower the horticulture industry in China."

"For example, Northwest China is a typical Gobi agricultural area, where water is scarce but the light condition is excellent, and long sunshine makes tomatoes grown here have a good flavor and texture. The sweetness is more than 10 brix, while yields can be doubled. In addition, energy costs are cheaper than in China's coastal cities, making it more suitable for the development of greenhouse horticulture. The traditional agriculture in the region is mostly soil-based, with low water utilization. High-tech film greenhouses have a large market here, and the corresponding water-saving irrigation technology is also necessary. We have been building and operating film greenhouses here for three and a half years now, with good results. The construction of the greenhouse is only the first step, and the subsequent operation, talent management, and sales channels all need to be fully considered. We are also working with greenhouse designers and growers to help with greenhouse operation, such as hardware upgrades."

Energy
Energy prices in the Northwest are much lower than in the central region. "The price of electricity is about 0.21-0.312 RMB/degree, while in the central coastal region, it is as high as 0.56 RMB/degree. The reduction in energy costs brings great advantages, but the sales logistics system needs to be improved. The Netherlands already has a relatively mature system of growing, operating, and selling agricultural products, equipment, and other parts. However, the relevance of each part to the Chinese market is not as strong, leaving room for improvement."

Actively promoting GenAI
"We are also actively promoting GenAI," Alpha continues. "There are too many greenhouse management equipment on the market, but these devices have high requirements for people. Very often, managers just see a large amount of data but do not know how to use it effectively, hindering decision-making processes. The real AI tool is that after extensive data model learning, it can provide decision-makers with actionable insights to improve decision-making efficiency. We are also currently collaborating with related companies in Silicon Valley, domestic hardware manufacturers, etc., to jointly develop the GenAI decision-making system and associated hardware components.
