Suncheon City is actively promoting agricultural policies. The city is focusing on introducing smart agriculture, strengthening support for young farmers, intensively fostering high-income strategic crops, and establishing a sustainable local food system.
To strengthen the capabilities of young farmers, the city has created two disaster-type smart greenhouses to operate a "management practice rental farm" that rents for three years and supports management and technical consulting.
It also creates an urban smart farm complex to provide a space for crop production, exhibition, and agricultural experience, and introduces vertical farms and hydroponic smart agricultural facilities using empty buildings to create new agricultural jobs and improve productivity.
It is also stepping up efforts to foster high-income crops. It intensively fosters seven crops, including cucumbers, strawberries, water parsley, peaches, blueberries, dried persimmons, and dried seaweed, and increases farm household income through customized support. With the aim of increasing the number of farms with annual income of more than 100 million won to 195, it is providing unmanned control devices, transportation facilities, and breeding costs.
