US (UT): Castle Valley Center looking to purchase hydroponic garden for its students

Castle Valley Center (CVC) is currently looking to purchase a hydroponic garden for their students. A hydroponic garden would allow students to have a more hands-on experience with gardening.

"Many of our students do not learn in a typical way that other students do. They learn best through real world applications which help reading and math concepts be connected to real life situations," stated Principal Amy Bell.

While enjoying the fruits or vegetables of their labor, students will also be practicing math, reading and job skills for future work.

Bell advised that they have tried doing garden maintenance in the past because of the benefits, but have found that maintaining a green house can be quite difficult, given the weather. When she was shown the hydroponic garden, she felt as though it would be extremely beneficial to all of her students, as there are many different learning components that go into maintaining it. There's measuring, counting and scheduling that the students must adhere to in order for the garden to be successful.
