Examining the effects of bamboo on hydroponically grown melons

This research aims to determine the growth and production of melon (Cucumis melo L.) hydroponically using the Deep Flow Technique (DFT) system with POC bamboo shoots.

The study was conducted from June to November 2024 at the Pakea Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, North Toraja Regency. This is a single-factor study using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatment levels: R0 = no POC (control), R1 = 90% AB mix and 10% POC bamboo shoots, R2 = 80% AB mix and 20% POC bamboo shoots, R3 = 70% AB mix and 30% POC bamboo shoots, and R4 = 60% AB mix and 40% POC bamboo shoots.

The results showed that the 90% AB mix and 10% POC treatment yielded the best results in terms of number of leaves, leaf area, number of flowers, fruit diameter, fruit weight, and fruit weight per plot.
