Israel: Partnership reached for vertically farmed tomato hybrid

Water Ways Technologies has entered into a Tomato Seed Transfer and Breeding Agreement with BF Agritech Ltd, an Israeli agricultural technology company specializing in crop development.

Under the Agreement, Water Ways has hired BF Agritech to create a special type of tomato specifically designed for vertical farming indoors. Water Ways thinks this new tomato could help satisfy the growing need for sustainable indoor farming options. According to the Agreement, Water Ways will pay BF Agritech $200,000 over 12 months for developing this tomato, starting with an initial payment of $50,000 when the Agreement is signed. Water Ways gets the right to sell this tomato worldwide, but BF Agritech keeps the rights to the technology behind it.

Additionally, Water Ways agrees to give BF Agritech 15% of sales profits from outside North America. Either Water Ways or BF Agritech can end the Agreement by giving a 30-day notice.

"This strategic partnership with BF Agritech represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide innovative agricultural solutions," said Ohad Haber, Chief Executive Officer of Water Ways Technologies. "The development of specialized tomato varieties for vertical farming systems aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable agriculture and positions us to capitalize on the growing indoor farming market in North America."
