India: Fighting malnutrition with microgreens

In the foothills of the Nilgiris, where many tribal communities face growing health challenges like sickle cell anemia and chronic undernutrition, a quiet but urgent transformation has begun. Together with CTRD, a grassroots organization that has served these regions for over three decades, OMG Greens brought a simple intervention into local government and tribal schools—a way to grow food that nurtures health.

"This isn't just about farming," said OMG Greens in a statement, "It's about food security, nutrition access, and giving young people to thrive—right where they are. In one day, we stood beside tribal students, teachers, and mothers as they planted their first trays of microgreens. Many had never seen these before."
