Edible Garden AG Incorporated (Nasdaq: EDBL, EDBLW), a company specializing in controlled environment agriculture (CEA), has announced the availability of its USDA-certified organic products at Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets, a family-owned grocery chain with 10 stores based in Elmwood Park, Illinois.
The launch includes a range of Edible Garden products such as fresh potted herbs, hydro basil, wheatgrass, and pickles. These are supported by the company's proprietary display systems, including self-watering racks and dedicated basil units, designed to extend shelf life and reduce shrink while maintaining product quality in-store.
"Caputo's customers now have access to our fresh potted herbs, hydro basil, wheatgrass, and pickles—all produced with our Zero-Waste Inspired® farming practices and supported by our proprietary display systems," said Jim Kras, CEO of Edible Garden. "These systems include our self-watering in-store racks, designed to extend plant shelf life and reduce shrink, as well as our dedicated basil display units that keep herbs vibrant and flavorful."
Founded in 1958 by Angelo Caputo, the grocery chain began as a small neighborhood produce stand and has since grown into a multi-location operation known for its focus on fresh, high-quality products and Italian culinary traditions. The partnership reflects Edible Garden's ongoing efforts to expand into the Midwest through collaboration with regionally respected retailers.
"By joining forces with a trusted, family-owned grocer that has been serving Chicagoland communities for more than six decades, we are reinforcing our strategy of partnering with retailers who share our values," Kras added. "This collaboration represents the beginning of a long-term relationship that will benefit customers, retailers, and the environment alike."
Edible Garden operates greenhouse and processing facilities in New Jersey, Michigan, and Iowa, and partners with growers located near key U.S. markets to reduce environmental impact and food miles. The company is also known for its Zero-Waste Inspired® model, which incorporates patented technologies, sustainable packaging, and software tools aimed at optimizing indoor and greenhouse growing.
