Young innovators and natural solutions take center stage

Propagate 2025 highlights green and sustainable propagation

The fourth edition of Propagate!2025, initiated by Flier Systems and Propagation Solutions, proved to be a hotspot for innovation in sustainable young plant production. With more than 120 participants on the first day, the event brought together propagators, suppliers, and experts to explore green solutions for the future of propagation. The main program featured both established voices and a strong new generation of innovators. Tom Groot (Koppert) stressed the importance of starting biocontrol early in propagation, while young speakers such as Paula Rico (Hoogendoorn Growth Management), Lukas Sigg (Nordic Energy Consulting), and Fleur Bruinen (Little Spider) inspired the audience with fresh perspectives on climate strategies, smart energy, and natural biocontrol. Their stories reflected how green innovation and young talent are reshaping the market.

"The most effective biocontrol program has its start at the propagator. We have to start as soon as possible—because the earlier you begin, the healthier the plant will grow," said Tom Groot (Koppert) during his keynote.

The evening program took the form of a joint walk-in dinner, creating an informal setting for networking and exchanging experiences. Participants from across the sector connected over food and drinks, strengthening existing relationships and sparking new collaborations. The relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect complement to the day's inspiring content.

On Day 2, the focus shifted from ideas to practice with the Propagate Academy, designed to bring sustainable solutions directly into propagators' hands. Nathalie Zwinkels (Beekenkamp Plants) led a session on practical insect recognition, giving participants the theoretical knowledge to identify pests and spot early signs of damage in young plants. Imri Verrijp (Koppert) then translated this into practice with a workshop on biological control on a day-to-day basis, showing how to apply natural solutions and strengthen IPM programs. Together, the workshops equipped participants with skills to improve plant health while reducing reliance on chemical inputs—an essential step toward a greener future.

With its combination of innovation, networking, and practical training, Propagate!2025—powered by Flier Systems— once again demonstrated its unique role as a platform where the future of propagation takes shape—green, sustainable, and ready for tomorrow.
