Greenhouses are shining greener than ever: LED lights are everywhere. And that means more cleaning work. Lightshine Cleaning – now renamed Lightshine Cleaning Services – is running at full speed. The company, long known for its automatic cleaning of HPS reflectors, now also supplies Lightshine Cleaning Wipes for LED fixtures as well as the brand-new LCS LED Cover, specially designed to protect lamps during crop changes and other greenhouse activities.
"We've taken a new direction," says owner Jeffrey van den Bogert. "Where we first made our name cleaning reflectors for growers all across Europe – and even in North America – we now also focus on LED maintenance, carry out inspections, and even install complete LED systems."

A true all-round service partner
Lightshine Cleaning Services has already completed several projects where its teams installed entire LED systems. "We've noticed that many LED manufacturers don't have the manpower to handle installations themselves," explains Peter van der Kaaij, Sales Manager for the Benelux. "We do have the right specialists and we're happy to support in this area. That's why we're reaching out to manufacturers to see how we can work together."
With its expanded team and freshly renovated, modern office, Lightshine Cleaning Services can now truly act as a full-service partner for greenhouse lighting. Their regular work – such as automatic HPS reflector cleaning – continues as usual.
"Some LED fixtures we already clean fully automatically in our mobile wash unit," Jeffrey adds. "And we're developing a system that will soon allow us to clean every type of LED fixture automatically."

Cleaning Wipes: a success for five years
By now, the LCS LED Wipes have become a trusted tool in growers' kits. These specially developed wipes make it easy to keep fixtures clean and prevent light loss. Both the lens and the cooling fins can be wiped down quickly and safely. "Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for growers to keep their lights spotless," Jeffrey says.

New development: the LCS LED Cover
The newest innovation is the LCS LED Cover, developed in collaboration with a manufacturer. With this product, growers can protect their fixtures from water and cleaning chemicals during maintenance.
"Until now, many growers used garbage bags that they had to cut to fit. That took time and wasn't very practical," Peter explains. "The LCS LED Cover has two adhesive strips, so you can wrap a fixture in just a few seconds."
The cover is already being widely used, and interest is growing outside Europe as well. To present these innovations, Jeffrey van den Bogert will travel next month to the Canadian Greenhouse Conference, where he'll showcase both the LED Cover and the Cleaning Wipes.

Year-round service
Meanwhile, LCS service teams remain active in greenhouses throughout the year. The company's other division, CleanShopping, is also running at full throttle, cleaning shopping carts, baskets, crates and more for supermarkets, garden centers, DIY stores, bakeries and factories in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain. "Our peak seasons are spring and the weeks leading up to the December holidays," says account manager Bas Nederhof.
"In horticulture, though, we see that the old seasonal peaks are disappearing," Peter adds. "In the past it was especially busy before winter crops, but nowadays many growers use lighting year-round. That means maintenance has to happen more regularly."
Keeping lights clean remains crucial, he emphasizes. "Dirty lamps lose light, and that immediately costs the grower yield. On top of that, well-maintained lamps last longer. That's why we support growers with clear cleaning protocols."
