New York Sun Works joined New York State Assemblymember Emérita Torres yesterday to announce the funding for a new state-of-the-art Hydroponic Classroom. The classroom takes place at Archimedes Academy for Math, Science & Technology Applications in the Bronx. The new lab will provide ongoing support to bring hands-on climate and sustainability education at the school.
"I am thrilled to fund the first-ever hydroponics farm lab at Archimedes Academy in my district," said Assemblymember Emérita Torres. "This partnership with NY Sun Works is a major step forward in bringing more hands-on, science-based learning for our students in the Bronx. By investing in sustainable technology and STEM education in the classroom, we are cultivating a new generation of environmental stewards who will have the skills they need in the green economy."
"I am excited to announce the building of a new Hydroponic Classroom in the Bronx with Assemblymember Emérita Torres – this new lab will not only bring hands-on hydroponic farming curriculum to hundreds of students in the Bronx but also empower them to take action, become advocates and be part of the solution to our growing climate crisis," said NY Sun Works Executive Director Manuela Zamora.
"This investment will also help combat food insecurity and cultivate our city's next generation of environmentalists, climate conscious citizens and community leaders."
