UK: Wastewater cleantech and vertical farming business see interest at Dorset pitch event

Dorset Business Angels held its latest pitch event in Bournemouth this week, with 38 angel investors gathering to hear from five early-stage companies seeking investment. The evening generated significant interest across three presenting businesses – a cleantech company, a vertical farming venture and a hearing protection technology business.

Most successful on the evening was a London-based firm developing a low-energy wastewater treatment technology which uses waste heat or renewable energy to achieve over 95 percent water recovery. With clients including major aerospace manufacturers, nuclear power contractors and infrastructure firms, the company offers businesses cost savings of over 30 per cent compared to legacy processes while substantially reducing environmental impact.

The founders are seeking £500,000 at a £3m pre-money valuation, with SEIS and EIS advanced assurance already secured.

Also popular with investors was a vertical farming business whose proprietary technology uses sensor-driven plant personalization and ensures optimized space utilization to provide 22 times the crop yield per square meter compared with open field farming methods.
