German cafe installs vertical farming technology

The first indoor farms have been in operation at Le Café in Germany since the end of September – there are now four of them. HORSCH is thus launching a pilot project on hydroponic technology that brings modern plant production directly into everyday working life: resource-saving, space-saving, and fully automated.

A selection of fresh greens: sprouts (e.g., radishes and arugula), lettuces (Lollo Bionda and Lollo Rosso), and herbs such as cilantro and mizuna are being grown there.

The idea behind the project was to bring cultivation and consumption together – for fresh, sustainable, and transparent food directly at the workplace.

Those at Le Café have issued a thank you to everyone who participated in the project.
