Finland: The challenge of feeding the planet without costing the earth

Vaisala highlights a challenge that grows sharper every year: feeding a rising global population without pushing the planet past its limits. Agriculture already occupies about half of the world's habitable land. Intensive methods continue to strain biodiversity, and climate change is making reliable food production harder.

The company offers a practical path toward relief. It allows local, year round production, recycles up to 95 percent of the water used, and relies on minimal pesticides. Still, its success depends on precise and efficient control of growing conditions.

Vaisala's humidity, temperature and CO₂ sensors are currently supporting one of the world's largest indoor farms. With accurate, stable measurements, the farm is able to grow more food while cutting its environmental impact.

For those that wish to dive even deeper into the topic, Vaisala has an on-demand webinar on indoor farming technology at the link here.
