Port One Logistics Park, located on a former quarry site in Great Blakenham, has formally submitted the planning application for the next phase of its expansion programme. The proposed extension marks the beginning of a new chapter for the site, which will be renamed Port One Technology Park to reflect the site's growing focus on science, technology and high-tech industrial operations alongside commercial logistics.
When fully completed, Port One Technology Park is expected to support 4,000 jobs across a wide range of skill levels and sectors. Phase one of the development is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and will create 1,000 full-time roles, with a further 3,000 positions created when phase two is delivered. More than £250 million has been committed to the site, with investments coming from Europe, the US, and the UK. Approximately 500 construction workers will also be on site at any one time, providing a further economic uplift during the build programme.
More than 150 different job types are expected to be available, from AI development and plant science, to catering and logistics. Apprenticeships are already being supported by the developer, Curzon De Vere, and its contracting division, and the park will continue to work closely with local parishes to ensure residents are kept informed of vacancies and training opportunities.
The site is set to become a world leader in vertical farming and controlled environment soft fruit production. Several patents covering advanced technologies in fruit production and related systems are already being processed.
