Upcoming survey to focus on experiences of vertical growers in Canada

The University of Guelph, working with Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness | Agriculture, Alimentation et Agroentreprise, is announcing an upcoming survey focused on the vertical farming landscape in Canada. The project is seeking participation from individuals who manage, operate, or own vertical farms in Canada and who want to support inventory development and contribute to meaningful sustainability solutions.

The survey and a series of informal interviews will collect both qualitative and quantitative information about operational scale, system design, crop types, production inputs and waste management practices. The resulting dataset will support the creation of a current national inventory of vertical farming activity. It will also inform a life cycle assessment of vertically farmed leafy greens, with attention to major sustainability impact categories across different regions and cultivation practices.

Anyone involved in the sector who is interested in contributing to this research is encouraged to take part. Growers who are interested in taking the survey can do so at the link here.
