South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will join hands to support the development of physical artificial intelligence (AI) technology that can be put into domestic agricultural sites.
The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food announced on the 22nd that they held a "policy meeting to promote agricultural food technology and industry AX" at Yeonam University's Green Tech Innovation Center in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do.
The meeting was organized to discuss the difficulties of agri-food AX and necessary support measures amid structural problems in rural areas such as the aging agricultural population and climate change. Officials from agri-food companies such as smart farms, livestock, distribution, and AI algorithms and cloud technology companies attended the site to share various convergence cases such as autonomous agricultural machinery, AI-based growth environment control, and livestock data analysis.
While emphasizing that AI introduction is a key tool to increase production efficiency and quality control, participating companies cited difficulties in using data, lack of empirical foundation, and burden of investment costs due to the introduction of new technologies as obstacles to field application.
