Live Well Kosciusko is expanding its Tower Garden Initiative in 2026 by bringing fresh, locally grown produce and hands-on learning to six locations across the county. This initiative began as a pilot project at Combined Community Services, made possible through a grant from AWS Foundation and Cardinal Services. The tower garden demonstrated how vertical, aeroponic gardens increase fresh access to produce while serving as an education tool, according to a news release from Live Well Kosciusko.
Building on the success of the first Tower Garden, Live Well Kosciusko is expanding the program in 2026 by adding five additional towers throughout the community. The initiative now includes Tower Gardens at Beaman Home, Fellowship Missions, Enchanted Hills Center, North Webster Library and Syracuse Library.
Tower Gardens are a vertical, aeroponic growing system that allows plants to grow without soil. Nutrient-rich water delivers oxygen to the plant's roots and helps plants grow faster. The tower garden's compact design allows it fit in food pantries, libraries and other community spaces.
"The Tower Gardens are great teaching tools," said Alison Weeks, coordinator with Live Well. "It has helped spark conversations about nutrition, sustainability and how small changes can make a big impact on health."
